POSITION KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Faculty at the rank of tenure track/tenured Associate Professor or Professor should have a strong program of funded research. Faculty are expected to teach and actively maintain their research productivity. Instructional responsibilities include didactic coursework (online and classroom as appropriate) and mentoring students and faculty.
 

Responsibilities:

  • Administration of a model of scholarship in the Ph.D. program for the Cizik School of Nursing.

  • Strategic planning, operations, course coordination, continuous monitoring, evaluation, and program quality improvement.

  • Leadership to faculty regarding national trends, curriculum design and instruction, admission and progression of students, and leading necessary changes based on program evaluation.

  • Collaboration with schools and organizations/systems in the Texas Medical Center and other entities to implement the Ph.D. Program, promote the profession, advance the profession of nursing, and achieve the missions of the University. Other scholarly/institutional service responsibilities will be determined in coordination with the Research Department Chair.

  • Administratively within the Texas Board of Regents, CSON, and UTHealth Houston policies and procedures, maintains the values espoused by the university and school and promotes excellence in all areas of the mission.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A doctoral degree in nursing or related field (Ph.D., DrPH) and eligibility for licensure as a registered nurse in Texas are required Meet qualifications for the rank of tenure track/tenured Associate Professor/Professor.

  • Minimum of two years of teaching/mentoring experience in higher education.

  • Familiarity with academic roles, rules, policies, and procedures.

  • Record of ongoing scholarship.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Two years of experience in a leadership role in academia and/or research.

  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
  • Growth mindset with demonstrated professional development goals.

  • Ability to motivate and support faculty in achieving excellence in teaching roles.

  • Maintains a high level of integrity and ethical practice.

Additional certifications may be required or desired depending on the specialty area (e.g. CRNA, NP-BC).
